Introduction
This one-pot chicken and rice dish is the solution if you’re short on time but still want a delicious, home-cooked meal. It’s delicious, filling, and ready in less than 30 minutes, making it ideal for individuals or busy families.

Ingredients:
2 tablespoons of oil
One teaspoon of cumin seeds
One large onion, cut into slices
500g of finely chopped chicken
Two chopped tomatoes
One teaspoon of garam masala
Two teaspoons of salt (to taste)
Two cups of thoroughly rinsed basmati rice
Two cups of water
Directions
In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat the oil over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and give them a moment to sizzle. Cook the sliced onions until they are golden and tender.
Cook the chicken pieces for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring now and then, until they are lightly browned.
Add salt, garam masala, and chopped tomatoes. Cook until tomatoes are tender, 2 to 3 minutes.
Add the water and rinsed basmati rice, and stir to mix.
Reduce heat to low after bringing to a boil. For fifteen minutes, or until the rice is soft and the water has been absorbed, cover with a tight lid and simmer.

Optional: Before serving, garnish with crispy fried onions for a biryani-style appearance.
